So here’s yet another Harry Potter trailer and it looks like the Half-Blood Prince movie may actually follow the plot of the book. Maybe David Yates has run out of creative thinking or maybe he just realized that the reason people like the books is because the story is good and he shouldn’t keep messing with it 😛 . Anyway the trailer looks very promising and it shows a lot of Harry and Dumbledore on their excursions (which I would hope it would considering that’s what mainly happened in the book, even though in the 3rd movie the Firebolt didn’t even show up until the end and there was no winning the Quidditch Cup). Just their apparition alone is very cool looking. The trailer also gives a better introduction to Horace Slughorn for those people that are too lazy to read the books still. It also looks like the part where Ron eats the cupcakes filled with love potion will be hilarious. Harry-“Alright fine you’re in love with her, have you ever actually met her?,” Ron-“No…..could you introduce me?” Who wouldn’t laugh at Ron being all crazy pants for some random girl that he doesn’t even know? It also looks like they’re actually going to have Ron get poisoned from drinking Slughorn’s wine too. It’s so impressive that Yates managed to use a whole scene from the book without changing it lol.
Anyways, I’m also really excited about getting to see the memories of Dumbledore meeting Riddle and the ministry man meeting Marvolo Gaunt (at least I hope this memory is in the movie). We also get to see some Quidditch action again and it looks like we’ll actually get to see Ron doing a good job as the Keeper. Another interesting thing in the trailer are Luna’s fun Specter Specs. They’re really fun and glowy. We also see Hermione wearing something strange in the movie and she looks like she’s about to cry so I’m not sure if that’s Ron-Lavender drama or what’s going on there. There’s also sudo Harry and Ginny smooching in this trailer which I’m sure will make all the fan girls either happy or extremely jealous (even though it’s of a fictional character *sigh*). The last things we see are Harry yelling at Snape (the Half-Blood Prince himself) and telling him to “fight back you coward” as well as a bridge being ripped to pieces (which I’m guessing is the one that Muggle Engineers would freaking out about in the book). This trailer looks like the movie is definitely going to be amazing. I’ll just say it again, I’m proud of David Yates for leaving good things alone!
There’s a new international trailer out for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It is short by it’s still pretty cool. Make sure you watch this trailer quickly before WB yanks it off of youtube again (and also before you read this as it contains spoilers). You get to see Dumbledore and Harry entering the cave where the locket is, and you get to see more of Dumbledore facing off against the Inferi. The original trailer is embedded in this one in the middle, which shows you just how crappy and short it really was. Harry also is running through a field towards a house that’s on fire, which I’m pretty sure is the Gaunt shack, but who knows. Ron gets kissed by a pretty busty Lavender Brown, which I’m sure will make all of the fan girls uber jealous. We get to see more memory tubes as well as Slughorn sucking the memory out of his head in order to give it to Harry (I’m excited to see how the lucky potion scene will turn out in the movie). Dumbledore reveals that Harry is “The Chosen One” which I’m sure is going to excite all the lame people that haven’t actually finished the books. The best part of the trailer is at the end though. Some random girl is oggling Harry and he oggles back until Hermoine yells at him saying that “she’s only interested in you because you’re the chosen one” and he says “But I am the chosen one” and she smacks him with a rolled up paper. It’s pretty great and makes the really fast cut scenes in the rest of the trailer worth it. Oh and btw SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE lol.
By now I’m sure you’ve heard of Warner Bros. pushing back the release date of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to July 2009. I’m definitely not happy about the push especially since that’ll mean it’s been 2 years since the last film. Why’d they bother putting out the trailer this “early”? They’d better not do the same thing for part 1 of the Deathly Hallows movie because it’s currently scheduled for November 2010. I’m not so worried about part 2 of the 7th movie since it’s schedule for May of 2011. I still don’t understand how movie producers are just realizing now that summer films make more money especially when it comes to kid audiences. I mean hello summer vacation!
There were some kinda dumb rumors going around that WB didn’t want to tarnish Harry’s image since Daniel Radcliffe is on Broadway this fall for Equus. This doesn’t make any since though considering he already performed it in London last year. It’s obvious that WB saw the success of The Dark Knight and we’re like “oh, we should do that again” a-duh! I mean as of last weekend (Exactly a month from it’s release date today) it’s still at number 2 in the U.S. That’s pretty ridiculous if you ask me.
