Totally gonna make these cookies!

September 26, 2008 at 6:05 pm (Food, Random) (, , , , , , , )

So I found what seems like a good recipe for Pumpkin cookies. I’m going to try it out tonight with the addition of some delicious cream-cheese frosting on top πŸ˜€ . Also I’m not going to add the pecans or walnuts just because I don’t think they need them. Maybe I’ll add some orange food coloring to the frosting to make them brighter too πŸ™‚ . I hope they aren’t too soft seeing as how there’s pumpkin puree in them. It’s not that much so I wouldn’t think they would be, but who knows. I’m excited that this batch makes 3.5 dozen but knowing my fiance’s cookie portions, it’ll probably make closer to 2 haha. The picture of them looks really good and it’s making me super hungry. I’m about to go get dinner and then go swimming so it will be awhile before I can make them. When I get back and finally make them I’ll probably post about them πŸ˜€ and let you know if they’re good or not. Here’s the recipe if you want to try and make them too πŸ˜€ .

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies
2 Β½ cup ap flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves
pinch nutmeg
Β½ cup butter, room temperature
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup pumpkin puree
1 c chocolate chips or raisins
Β½ – 1 cup pecans or walnuts (optional)

Preheat oven 350F. Line two baking sheets with parchment.
Whisk together flour, leavening, salt and spices.
In a large bowl, cream the butter with the sugars. Beat in egg, then vanilla, then pumpkin. Add flour mixture and stir until just incorporated. Stir in chocolate chips and pecans, if using.
Drop by tablespoons and bake for 12-14 minutes at 350F. Bake them until they’re lightly browned at the edges, but not dark.
Remove to a wire rack to cool.
Makes about 3 1/2 dozen.

Cool gummies this time I promise

September 7, 2008 at 3:48 pm (Food, Random) (, , , , , , , )

I found something to take your mind off of the horrible gummies I posted the other day. They’re called Big Bite Gummy Bears. I would post a picture of these big bears but they won’t let me have them 😦 .[Edit: I found a size comparison here and they are really big!.] Anyway they cost $15.83 for a package of 6. It’s pretty pricey considering they are just gummy bears. I would imagine that it would take you awhile to just get through one though so maybe they’re worth it. The available flavors are Cherry, Blue Raspberry, Grape, Green Apple, and Orange.

I also found some other cool gummy things starting with chocolate covered gummy bears. *drool* At $7.98/lb they’re also pretty pricey but I bet they are good. It’s also really cool because they don’t just look like blobs, you can really distinguish the bearness πŸ˜€ .

Now an amazing video about making a gummy bear spontaneously combust!

Deliciousness :P

August 16, 2008 at 11:22 am (Food, Random) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

I had planned to have a special post today but while I was playing around with Gimp yesterday it froze up and lost my drawing 😦 .Β  I’ll probably get the chance to work on it later today but until then here’s something fun to look at.

Ok so in case you couldn’t tell I haven’t had lunch yet.Β  I was stumbling and found some really awesome looking food and that’s what I’m going to use to replace my lost drawing 😦 .

Anyways the first is this amazing cake.Β  It’s called “… Sour Cream-Chocolate Cake with Peanut Butter Frosting and Chocolate Peanut Butter Glaze, though it is actually a Sour Cream-Chocolate Cake with Cream Cheese Peanut Butter Frosting and Chocolate Peanut Butter Glaze, but all you really need to know is that if you know a chocolate-and-peanut-butter lover, you must make this cake,”-smittenkitchen. This cake looks absolutely amazing and considering it’s a cream cheese cake it probably tastes amazing too.
Next a chocolate chip cookie from Levain Bakery. I found it on Cookie Madness. It makes me want chocolate chip cookies really really bad. In the review it says that the thickest part of the cookie was close to an inch and a half. That’s an amazing cookie plus the fact that it looks fresh and melty *drool*. If I ever go to New York I’ll have to hit that place up definitely. Even though they have cookies by mail I doubt they’d be that good after sitting in the mail. Plus it looks like they’re really expensive. For just 4 cookies it’s $22 whoa! It says that amounts to almost 2 lbs. so I guess it’s worth it.
I choose you Pikachu!

I choose you Pikachu!

Yay I love sushi, well veggie sushi anyways. I like the ones with avocado a lot. I found this site with 8 pieces of sushi art πŸ˜€ . Check out the site for yourself because it’s got some more fun sushi pictures including 2 pictures of dragon/caterpillar rolls yay! That koala is super cute too!
Next, Pacman sugar cookies! Omg they are so cute haha. I would make these all the time. Maybe I should look for that ghost cookie cutter. Apparently guinea pigs love them too; if you check out the site you’ll see it haha. I mean who doesn’t like sugar cookies? πŸ˜€

I think that’s enough food surfing for now otherwise I’m going to die of hunger pangs! Hope you enjoyed the list. I might have to make food the regular Saturday topic πŸ˜‰ .

Fruit Salted Plum Suckers

August 11, 2008 at 12:55 pm (Food, Random) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

Looking at Thinkgeek today I saw that they had a new product out called Miracle Berry Fruit Tablets. If you eat one of these they’re supposed to make sour things taste sweet. Personally I dunno if I’d want to trip out my taste buds like that. Also, they’re not supposed to have any “harmful” side effects. It’s recommended to dissolve half of a tablet on your tongue but if you suck on the whole tablet the sour-sweet change is stronger. They’re pretty expensive since they cost $19.99. It’s candy people!

After seeing these candies I decided to look up weird foods and found a few worth sharing. First, Seagull wine, take a guess what it is. “Put a seagull in a bottle. Fill with water. Let it ferment in the sun.” – Weird-Food.com. Baby Mouse wine is similar. “Basically a rice wine bottle full of baby mice,” – Weird-Food.com. Except it’s supposed to taste like gasoline. Just what I want to drink gasoline yum.

Scotland has a drink called Irn Bru which I’ve actually tasted. It tastes exactly like pink bubblegum despite it’s bright orange color. Apparently there’s an indoor fair dedicated to it as well. It looks like fun actually.
Edit: [Irn Bru is sold in the US but I think it’s in limited locations. Also if word got out that it’s made from 32 fruit flavors I think Dr. Pepper would be in trouble with it’s 23.]

In my hunt I found more interesting suckers. They’re called Fruit Salted Plum Suckers. They’re coated with a brine salt layer on the outside with a salted chunk of plum (a.k.a. Sabroso) on the inside. I’ve read that the plum is only in the large plum suckers whereas the smaller ones have the plum plastered to the backside. Either way it sounds absolutely disgusting to me :).

I’d much rather have one of these strawberry flamingo suckers :D.
[Edit: Recently these flamingo suckers have been removed from the site 😦 .]

Yet Another Reason I need to go to Jungle Jim’s

August 4, 2008 at 10:39 pm (Food, Random) (, , , , , , , , , )

I saw this “Grown-up Soda” (GuS for short) on aol today and remembered that I think I’ve seen it on the Food Network too. I definitely want to try it. It’s supposed to be just the fruit juice and some carbonation so it’s healthy and delicious. Anyways there’s a few different flavors available but I really want to try the pomegranate one cuz it’s one of the juices that I love. The Cranberry Lime also seems like it would taste awesome but really puckery :D. Anyways I’ve been wanting to go to Jungle Jim’s for awhile now but it’s far away. So I’ll just add this to my list of reasons why for the mean time. Anyways you can find it at several other locations so go try some and tell me how good it is :D.

I want some Reeses Bats

August 1, 2008 at 10:57 am (Food, Movie, Random, Superheroes) (, , , , , , , , , , , , )

Currently there’s a big Batman the Dark Knight campaign going on with Reeses. I have finally confirmed that they do in fact sell bat-shaped Reeses cups (Thanks to one of my fave blogs) but I still haven’t gotten any yet. I’m going to the store today just to look for them.

There’s a customized Batman MV Agusta F4 being given away as the grand prize. It looks pretty awesome. There’s a gallery on the Reeses site of the Agusta in production. There are 5 Panasonic home theater systems being given away for the first place prize and 10 limited edition Joker henchman masks for the second place prize. Kitkats are eligible for the giveaway as well but I don’t think they have anything bat-shaped.

I always wanted to live forever…jk

July 31, 2008 at 12:19 pm (Food, Random) (, , , , , , , , )

Some biochemists in California think that within 10 years they’ll be able to use nanotechnology to put enzymes in water. CoQ10 is an enzyme that our body naturally produces but slowly decreases its production with age.

And yet it’s vital for the body’s basic functioning, as it helps our cells convert sugars to energy.

io9.com

These biochemists hope that by getting more of this enzyme as well as other vitamins, the average human life expectancy can increase greatly since organs should stay more productive. They’re comparing it to putting iodine in salt in the 1920’s.

I’d just like to point out that Californians get everything first. First it was Pinkberry, then the new Honda FCX Clarity, and now water that makes you live longer? Come on lol. Anyways some of the people that commented on this article I read made very good points. I think I’ll list a few just because I find them entertaining and you can check out the rest for yourself by reading the full article.

1. “Tag this: ‘whatcouldpossiblygowrong?’.”

2. “It’s people! CoQ10 is made of people!!!”

3. “Isn’t this how at least one zombie film started?”

4. “So you start putting a nutrient that your body creates anyway into the drinking water. Your body senses it has enough Coq10 and stops natural production. Boom. Your now an addict.”

5. “Forget nanotechnology. Lets bioengineer a new species of tapeworm that lives in your gut, stops growing after it reaches a preset length, and produces all the vitamins and enzymes that we don’t normally, as long as it gets a steady diet of fats and proteins.
I mean, worst case scenario, it evolves sentience, wraps itself around your brainstem, and makes you talk in a reverb-heavy voice. I could live with that.
Welcome to the Hotel California! You can check out any time you like, but you cant ever leave.”

Who wants some lavender toothpaste?

July 28, 2008 at 3:03 pm (Food, Random) (, , , , )

I found this site called Breath Palette that sells odd flavors of dental hygiene items. There are 18 flavors of toothpaste alone. I think I’d try the strawberry or the fuji apple flavor but definitely not the monkey banana or cola :P. They also have a flavor 0 that is pH-balancing that chefs use to cleanse their palates.

One of the other things they have available is a smoothie mouthwash to go. How cool is that? I’d love it if my mouthwash tasted like a smoothie :D. They also have zen water mouthwash and a sweet tooth toothpaste. I kinda wonder if this stuff doesn’t give you cavities instead of helping to remove them. But if it does work I’d love to use it. If you were wondering whether your mouth still smells like the flavor afterwards, it doesn’t because they’re all made with menthol to leave your breath fresh and clean.

Bacon in Lollipops?

July 27, 2008 at 5:05 pm (Food, Random) (, , , , , )

There’s a new online store called Lollyphile and they sell interesting and unique lollipops as they would put it.Β  Currently the 2 flavors they have on sale are Absinthe and Maple-Bacon.Β  Both are very strange flavors to have in a lollipop but I guess that’s the whole point of their business.Β  I’d like to keep watching this site and see what other flavors they come out with.Β  But they’re kind’ve expensive atm so I hope they get enough business to lower their prices :D.

Anyways check out Lollyphile today.
