Tim Burton <3 Johnny Depp for sure

October 9, 2008 at 1:10 pm (Movie, Pirates, Random, TV) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

So there are some big rumors flying around about the 4th Pirates of the Caribbean movie which might have it’s own trilogy. I hope they don’t push for the trilogy personally because that will probably lead to forcing out another 3 Pirates movies without trying to make them good. But this might not be the case if one of the rumors is true. Supposedly Gore Verbinski (the guy who directed the first 3 Pirates movies if you didn’t know) is returning to direct this movie but there’s whisperings about Tim Burton maybe taking over as director. If this is true, then Burton and Depp are going to be spending a lot of time together since Johnny Depp is playing the Mad Hatter (like I mentioned here) in Burton’s Alice in Wonderland movie. Seriously I always knew they had a thing for each other lol 😉 .

Anyway, Burton would probably do a good job with the Pirates movies especially since they’re supposed to be focusing on the past (at least that’s what I’ve heard) when Captain Jack and Barbossa were looking for the Fountain of Youth. I think it’s very plausible that this is what the 4th movie is going to be about because another one of the rumors is that Geoffrey Rush has signed on for the 4th movie as well. I do think it would be a better idea for Orlando and Keira to return in this movie seeing as how Will Turner is now immortal and Elizabeth isn’t. They could even make it a few years after the end of the last movie so Will’s son could be older and go looking for Jack’s help or something. But currently I’ve heard no rumors talking about Keira or Orlando returning so that probably isn’t going to happen.

Captain Jack’s brother (when did he ever mention having a brother and where was he in the last movie when all the pirates faced off?) is also rumored to show up in this movie. From what I’ve heard, it’s either going to be Sacha Baron Cohen or Russell Brand (you know that crazy guy with the biggest white guy fro I’ve ever seen that scared people at the MTV award show lol). Sacha’s played in a movie with Johnny Depp before (he was Pirelli in Sweeney Todd which I still need to see!) but I haven’t really seen anything of either comedian’s work. I do think it would be good to have someone with a sense of humor playing Jack’s brother though 😀 . That’s all for the current rumors though.

Don’t miss The Office episode called “Business Ethics” tonight at 9 on NBC and don’t click here unless you want to read a summary of the plot. Also check out this very cool Nightmare Before Christmas theme for Firefox that I just downloaded today. It’s a very cool theme for Halloween.

Johnny Depp must really like hats….

October 6, 2008 at 12:31 am (Movie, Pirates, Random) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

This is so very disturbing....

This is so very disturbing....

Well he must have to love hats and weird hair since he’s been through a lot of both in his movies. First you have Pirates, in which he has the weird braids and he wears an amazing pirate hat. Then you have Charlie and the Chocolate Factory where he wears the big purple top hat. Even as a cartoon Johnny Depp has an insane batch of emo bangs that constantly poke out in the Corpse Bride. He’s got the weird skunk hair in Sweeney Todd (and he was ya know the demon barber) and finally he’s going to be the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton’s new Alice in Wonderland.

This Alice in Wonderland will be live action with an unknown actress named Mia Wasikowska playing Alice. There’s some pictures here of Alice and she looks like she’s on a boat; which I’m sure has fans freaking out since I’ve heard this part isn’t in the book. I wouldn’t be too worried if I was a fan of the book though, seeing as how Tim Burton is slightly insane an amazing director and Johnny Depp always acts good in his films (yet more proof of their love for each other lol). I’m looking forward to it since it seems like it will be a lot more interesting than the cartoon version. I hope it’s full of a good deal of insanity (let’s just hope there’s no more cross-dressing Johnny Depp) seeing as how you’re adding up both Alice in Wonderland (greatest stoner dream of all time) and Tim Burton. Anyway it’s due to release on March 5, 2010 in the US.

Disney is so “creative” sometimes

September 18, 2008 at 12:24 pm (Movie, Pirates, Random) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Disney is making an adventure movie set in space. Everyone is thinking it’s going to be a Tomorrowland/Space Mountain movie or a rip-off of Star Wars. Oh yeah and it’s starring The Rock. Now, Disney is of course denying any rumors that it’s based off of Space Mountain or any part of their park. But come on, what else could it be? They’ve already ripped off of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride (which was good because they actually got talented actors) and the Haunted Mansion ride (which was one of the stupidest movies I’ve seen). I’ve also heard rumors that Meet the Robinsons was supposed to be their version of Tomorrowland and that it was a good movie (seeing as how I still haven’t seen it I wouldn’t know….sad really). So maybe it will be “creative” but I’ll only say that if turns out to be good.

Personally I hope they don’t try and rip-off a whole section of their park into a movie because then when little kids run to Disney to see Tomorrowland, they’re going to be really confused. Both Pirates and the Haunted Mansion weren’t really like their ride counterparts and I’m sure some obnoxious little kids kept waiting for Jack Sparrow to pop up even though he never would. Personally, I was happy when I rode both the Haunted Mansion and Pirates rides and found out that neither of them had changed even after the movies were released. I was shocked that Disney didn’t try to mutate the original rides into something new (and if they try to do that to Space Mountain somebody is getting hurt). Disney had better realize that Pirates was only good because of the story, script, and actors they chose to play the parts (not just because people were nastalgic because that obviously didn’t help them with the horrendous Haunted Mansion movie). So hopefully they are telling the truth and they don’t just try to make some sappy space movie based off of their park with The Rock as some little kid’s “funny” dad that ends up saving the day. After all, they did make Wall-E really good with hardly any speaking roles, so they could do it again right?

P.S. after posting this picture, I’m having withdrawals from the ride 😦 .

The Penguin is a crappy villain

September 9, 2008 at 11:11 am (Movie, Random, Superheroes) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

This fake Riddler poster is very cool.

This fake Riddler poster is very cool.

Supposedly Michael Caine has been spouting off rumors that Seymour Hoffman will be playing the Penguin and that Johnny Depp will be the Riddler. Both actors have said that they haven’t even been contacted about the part. So unless someone is on vacation with Christopher Nolan and keeps leaking his secrets out, it’s probably not true. Everyone has heard of the Johnny Depp Riddler rumor and a lot of people are excited about it (I certainly am). I don’t like it when people stereotype Johnny Depp as a bad actor just because he has a lot of fangirls after him; because he is a good actor. I definitely agree that he’s the perfect crazy to play the Riddler. Enough about that though, because I highly doubt Christopher Nolan would even use the Penguin in his movies much less hire Seymour Hoffman to play the part.

Christopher Nolan loves to go into the psychosis of each character in his Batman movies. Two-Face lost the love of his life and got his face scorched up, the Joker is so messed up that he can’t even remember what screwed him up in the first place, and Batman is constantly battling with the belief that he’s responsible for his parents’ deaths and must avenge them somehow. The only bad thing that happened to the Penguin was that he was made fun of as a child for being a fatty, oh that and being a rich spoiled brat. What a poor life for the little guy 😛 . Even Wikipedia says that “Unlike most of the Batman villains, the Penguin is in control of his own actions and perfectly sane..”-Wikipedia. The penguin is just a smug villain that thinks he has the right to rob people because he was picked on when he was little. I highly doubt Nolan will think that makes him evil enough to justify using him as the main villain in Batman 3. Even if Nolan chose to use the Penguin I doubt he’d use Seymour Hoffman because personally I couldn’t look at that guy and think he was creepy at all. He just seems jolly to me.

If you need more reason to think that the Penguin isn’t a very good villain, he was as much of a momma’s boy as you can be. The whole reason he carries the umbrella around is because she was always worrying the he would die of pneumonia just like his father. He’s also supposedly a genius, but every time I’ve seen him, he seems just really conceited and stupid. His nickname is supposedly either from the fact that he used to have a limp in the storyline due to a hip ailment or because he really liked birds. He was that creepy antisocial boy at school who talked to birds (probably pigeons seeing as how he lived in the city, gross). That might scare me a little but other than that, he’s just a crappy villain. Enough said.

Who thinks Cher is still sexy?

August 26, 2008 at 10:48 am (Movie, Random) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

One of the less creepy pictures of her

One of the less creepy pictures of her

Ok so according to the British Telegraph newspaper Christopher Nolan wants Cher to play Catwoman as “a vamp in her twilight years”-Telegraph. This is worse than the rumors saying that Angelina Jolie was going to play Catwoman *shudder*. Shame on you Telegraph! Don’t start ridiculous rumors! First of all Cher is 62! Last time I checked Batman wasn’t into cougars and without the whole villain love interest, why bother introducing Catwoman at all. Batman needs someone to love now seeing as how Rachel Dawes isn’t in the picture anymore. He has a hard enough life chasing around crazies wearing masks. If Christopher Nolan picked Cher, I think Christian Bale would quit in protest to having to makeout with an old lady lol 😉 .

Also, any rumors starting now are most likely just that, seeing as how Christopher Nolan hasn’t even signed on to do a third Batman movie (even though I’m betting he will.) People are saying that the shock to this Cher news is similar to the shock of Heath Ledger playing the Joker but I don’t remember that many people whining besides Jack Nicholson (man did he look creepy as the Joker with all that face tape, I saw it on tv the other day). Going back to the whole Cher thing though, who would choose her to be sexy when they’ve had people like Halle Berry play the role. I guess that movie was pretty dorky but I blame that on the fact that the director was too interested in showing Halle Berry in leather to care about plot.

In every Batman series Catwoman has been good at stealing for another thing. If I owned a museum and a 62-year-old lady stole something from me and got away, I’d be pretty ashamed of myself. I guess Cher is a big enough hippy to be an animal rights activist worthy of the Selena Kyle title but without all the other things that make up Catwoman she really has no chance.

There’s also other rumors saying that Johnny Depp is going to play the Riddler. This I agree with. He’s just enough crazy to do that. (He killed people with shaving knives I mean come on! Speaking of which, I still haven’t seen that and I really should.) I really think it would be a good match for him as long as he strays away from the crazy that came with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Well, I’m guessing whoever plays who in the 3rd Batman movie will probably be good if Christopher Nolan directs it. He doesn’t seem to care too much about what people think of his choices and so far it’s made great movies.
