Fun Iron Man Goodies

September 29, 2008 at 5:07 pm (Movie, Random, Superheroes) (, , , , , , , , )

The Iron Man DVD is coming out tomorrow and it has some pretty cool (well kinda cool at least) making-of clips included. The first clip shows some of the first concept art for the Iron Man suit. It’s pretty cool that they actually thought about whether or not a person could bend and move inside without breaking their arms and legs (even though nobody ever gets to wear the real suit 😛 ). The 2nd movie is kinda cheesey and just talks about how awesome it would be to have a suit that would let us fly. The 3rd one is pretty funny since it’s the makeup artists making the Iron Man suit on Robert Downey Jr. They have to shave him and then paint him with what I can only assume is latex. Then they peel it off; which has to feel like a giant bandaid being ripped off slowly lol. Anyway you can watch the clips here but I’d advise you to skip the 2nd one since it is pretty boring.

As far as the rest of the DVD goes, I’ll start by saying that I really like the inside cover picture a lot more than the cover pictures. There’s also going to be 3 different versions of the DVD that you can buy straight away. There’s the Two-Disc Special Collector’s Edition, a Special Collector’s Edition Blu-ray Disc and a Single-Disc Edition. I thought there was a typo when I originally saw the prices of the DVDs but I guess not. Amazon has the Single Disc listed at $34.99 but it’s on sale for $14.99. What the heck were they thinking by pricing this DVD so high? $20 is pretty expensive for a single disc let alone $35. Also the original price of either of the Two-Disc sets is $39.99 with the Blu-ray on sale for $25.95 and the normal on sale for $22.99. I’m definitely not buying this DVD right away and I can’t believe how many pre-orders there probably already are for it. If I knew anyone paid $40 for a DVD (especially when you can pirate anything now) I’d have to kick them in the shins and laugh at their stupidity.

Matthew McConaughey would rather Hulk-out

September 17, 2008 at 10:55 am (Movie, Random, Superheroes) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Best Friends Forever!

Best Friends Forever!

It seems like every day I’m finding out about another superhero movie in the making and who is rumored to be playing the lead role. Apparently Matthew McConaughey had no idea that he was rumored to be playing Captain America (supposedly Leonardo DiCaprio was rumored for this spot too 😛 but as far as I know Marvel has only denied Will Smith). Well, neither did I until just now haha. I don’t think Captain America is in love with himself enough to be played by McConaughey personally. In love with America, yes; but not with himself. I also think Captain America with a southern accent would be silly. I guess it would make sense for him to be from the south since he’s insanely patriotic though.

MTV decided to question McConaughey about the rumors as if that would help to clarify matters for the rest of us. You can read how seemingly “clueless” they thought Matthew was when they asked him about it here (lol I never thought someone would be surprised by McConaughey being clueless about anything). Anyway, when MTV asked what he thought about playing Captain A. (lol) he said that he thought that was a “super cool name— Captain America.”-comicbookmovie.com. He also said that he wasn’t that big of a comic book fan as a kid (shocker!) and that he’d rather play the Hulk (Please we do not need a 3rd Hulk especially not a McConaughey version). Lol could you imagine if McConaughey did sign on and him and Hugh Jackman had to team up seeing as Captain America and Wolverine used to be best buds? I would have to laugh through the whole movie (especially if they were in love with each other as much as they were in the old cartoons 😀 ).

In other news, my power supply was almost returned to me last night. I literally missed it by less than 5 minutes. I saw the UPS truck driving away on the main road leading from my house. Then I showed up home to see that little brown sticker denying me my power supply without a signature 😦 . Boo I say! Anyway, I should hopefully have my desktop fixed by tonight and maybe I’ll post my happiness if it’s working properly. (Hope you enjoy the pic Matt 😀 .)

Not you too Iron Man

September 8, 2008 at 4:02 pm (Movie, Random, Superheroes) (, , , , , , , , , , , , )

So all kinds of celebrities are whoring themselves out selling their time on eBay in order to support Stand Up to Cancer. The latest to join the crew is Robert Downey Jr. with a chance to meet the cast of Iron Man 2. If you win the eBay auction you get basically the same thing as the Spiderman auction. I did notice this disclaimer at the bottom of the page “Role and length of screen time to be determined by Marvel, and there can be no assurance that the role will appear in the final version of the film”-eBay. Personally, I think that whoever is willing to shell out the cash should at least get a guaranteed spot in the movie even if it was for 5 seconds. It doesn’t say anything like that on the Spiderman auction so does Iron Man 2 think it’s to good to let the winner in for a 5s spot?

I do think it would be more fun to talk with Robert Downey Jr. than Tobey Maguire though. I mean, he’s a pretty crazy guy from all the movies I’ve seen him in. Especially in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. I can’t wait for Iron Man 2 seeing as how the first one was surprisingly good. I thought it was gonna be a dud for sure. Until then enjoy this chibi Iron Man!

I missed you Doc Connors!

September 8, 2008 at 12:18 pm (Movie, Random, Superheroes) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

This is what I get for taking Friday off! I just found out that Spiderman 4 and 5 have officially been signed onto by director Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire. There’s no word as of whether or not Kirsten Dunst has signed on yet but it would be no big loss to have to choose another redhead to fill the part. I’m good with a different Mary Jane since I was a big fan of the 1994 Spiderman tv series. She usually kicked Peter’s butt and got him to do stuff so it’d be a nice change of pace to see a girl do that to Tobey Maguire lol.

The better news is that people are starting to realize that you can’t make every superhero emo all the time. “…I’m told the filmmakers won’t be borrowing from the latest Batman installment because ‘Spider-Man is its own thing,’ one insider tells me. … The difference between Spider-Man and Batman is that Batman is duelling with a dark side of himself, and that’s not what Peter Parker’s struggle is. Peter Parker has no dark side himself. … Peter Parker’s struggle is about sacrifice.”-Nikki Finke’s Deadline Daily. Hooray! This means directors aren’t nearly as stupid as I was starting to believe. Also they’re trying to shoot 4 and 5 at the same time since it was so difficult to get everybody to sign back on. Smart thinking.

The best part of the news is the villain theories being thrown around. “Sony is taking its time officially hiring the movie’s villain since principal photography doesn’t start on Spider-Man 4 until next fall because of the recently postponed May 2011 release. I am told, however, that ‘once you find out who the villain is, you’ll know who’s playing it.'”-Nikki Finke’s Deadline Daily. People are definitely thinking Doc Connors is gonna transform into the lizard man for this movie. I would have to say that I’m really excited about the prospect of having him as the villain. I hope that the director would have to follow the actual Spidey storyline to get this to work out. If he did this, he’d have a plot for the 5th movie too (if you’ll remember how Spidey got all mutated and had 4 extra arms for awhile). Who saved him? Doc Connors! I’m going to need to find my sister’s paper mache lizard head and my mom’s old labcoat so I can run around in excitement (like I did when I used to watch the show).

Well I guess I’m giving you the worst news last but the good news above should outweigh it easily. Sony has hired some writers to start making Venom the movie. “Given that comic book artist/writer and action figure maker, Todd McFarlane, who is one of the creators of the Marvel villain, doesn’t think a Venom movie could do well with a villain as the central character,” I’m pretty sure Sony is going to regret their decision.-Nikki Finke’s Deadline Daily. Just because you have the costumes, it doesn’t mean you have to use them people. That’s like saying it was ok for Saban Entertainment (The people who made Power Rangers) to make The Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog just because they had the styrofoam monster suits lying around (all they did was spray paint them different colors anyway 😛 ).

No more reboots please!

September 3, 2008 at 1:54 pm (Movie, Random, Superheroes) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , )

I love this poster and it's bullety skully goodness

I love this poster and it's bullety skully goodness

Is it sad that I just realized they’ve remade The Punisher into a movie called “Punisher: War Zone?” I hate it how all these sucky directors jumped on the superhero band wagon and decided to make movies. They didn’t even try to make them good; they just thought that people would like them because of the ongoing trend. That’s not how comic geeks work and it’s about time they realized it. Comic readers expect perfection. Why bother going to see a crappy movie rip-off when there are dozens of comics devoted to each character? They’ve already rebooted The Hulk and plan on rebooting Superman. Why not just get it over with and please please please reboot X-men (atleast the 3rd one I mean come on, that’s my only exception.)

Anyway it seems like there was a lot of drama between the directors and producers of this movie. If you look at Wikipedia, you can see what I mean. This movie is supposed to be really dark vs. the original film (this is good because he is you know, the Punisher) and is currently rated R. It starts off with Frank Castle already as the Punisher for several years. There is supposed to be some back story told through flashbacks though. The Punisher will be facing off with Jigsaw in this movie. (Fun fact, originally Spiderman and Nightcrawler stopped Jigsaw from framing the Punisher for the murder of one of Nightcrawler’s old friends.) It’s due in theaters on December 5, 2008.

Want to meet Spidey IRL?

August 28, 2008 at 10:57 am (Movie, Random) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , )

The closest most of us will get to saying hi to Tobey Maguire

The closest most of us will get to meeting Tobey Maguire

Currently on ebay there’s an auction for a chance to visit the set of Spiderman 4. There’s not been a confirmation that the 4th film is actually going to be made but I guess they’d kind of have to admit to it after someone wins this auction. They can’t really just refund them and be like “just kidding!” Besides getting to see the set, you and your guest also get to meet the cast and talk with them for an hour. The winner her/himself gets an actual role in the movie. (I would have to guess that it’s a role similar to that of Stan Lee in all of the Spidey films.) Oh you also get to go to the New York premiere and walk the red carpet with your guest wearing designer outfits. That’s pretty cool.

You should make sure you’re 18 though because otherwise you have to be accompanied by a legal guardian. Chances of someone under that age having over $5,000 (since that’s what the auction is up to right now) is gonna be slim unless their parents bid for them anyways. Oh also everything is determined by Sony Pictures, just in case you missed that when you looked at the site lol. So if you want to spend a bunch of money on a vacation you don’t know when you’ll be taking or where specifically it will be, go ahead and bid. I would if I had that kinda money just laying around but alas I don’t. Sorry Christine you’ll have to wait for your super cool birthday/christmas present until another time 😉 .

Speaking of Spiderman 4, I hope Tobey Maguire signs on for it. I know he hurt his back and all but there are stunts doubles out there. I realize it’s not as cool if you don’t do your own stunts but Tobey is pretty good at being the dorky Peter Parker. Also, I saw Tropic Thunder last night and if you really want to see Tobey Maguire playing a funny role you should check out the fake trailer with him and Robert Downey Jr. I’ll try to post it later if I can find a good quality video.

Superman is gonna be emo now

August 22, 2008 at 1:49 pm (Movie, Random, Superheroes) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Warner Bros. has announced that they’re going to be making Superman not crappy this time around reintroducing Superman. It’s supposed to be a similar situation to how The Incredible Hulk was a replacement for Hulk. *sigh* I hope they do it right this time. We don’t need a box set of superhero movies that sucked coming out in the future. It’d be on “I Love the New Millennium” and I’d want to help make fun of it. Since Superman flopped in 2006 there is no Batman vs. Superman (It was originally planned for Christmas of this year or sometime in 2009) or Justice League movie (Thank goodness!) coming out for awhile. I’m think they’re trying to give people time to forget the last Superman movie in order to help build up hype for the new one later.

This time around Warner Bros. Pictures Group President “…wants his next pack of superhero movies to be bathed in the same brooding tone as ‘The Dark Knight.’ Creatively, he sees exploring the evil side to characters as the key to unlocking some of Warner Bros.’ DC properties.”-comingsoon.net. By “DC properties” I think he meant making a good plot for the movie 😉 (You know like Marvel movies do except for that horrible horrible X-Men 3 movie where Cyclops got killed in the first 30 seconds for no good reason besides the fact that Brett Ratner wanted him to. I betcha Bryan Singer wishes he didn’t drop it to make Superman Returns now, but I digress.) How the heck do you show Superman as evil?
I’m betting they’re gonna:

A. Copycat The Dark Knight by killing off the love interest Louis Lane
B. Find some red Kryptonite like in Smallville and make sure it gets stuck in him somehow

Wasn’t Superman emo enough in Superman Returns? I guess not. I’m gonna look for some Kryptonite razor blades to give them so he can go cut himself to make the movie better this time around.

Wonderwoman would totally be a lesbian

August 15, 2008 at 11:24 am (Random, Superheroes) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

I found another really cool article on The Topless Robot. It’s “10 Reasons No One Cares About Wonder Woman.” I’ll give you the rundown of the list but make sure to check out the article yourself. It has really good examples of each case.

10. Her costume sucks (Scary blue patriotic granny panties ftl!)

9. No good storylines

8. Most comics are terrible (from what I’ve seen I agree)

7. Golden Age Wonder Woman was really lame

6. “Her Lasso of Bondage” (omg it’s so true, I mean seriously that lasso reminds me of how much of a hoe Stacy X (Apparently known as Ripcord now) is in X-men. Also has anyone ever noticed that Wonderwoman’s boots are so just red hooker boots? Somtimes really tacky hooker boots but still.)
She's gonna get ya!

She's gonna get ya!

5. The Invisible plane sucked (How dumb of an idea was the invisible plane I mean really!)
4. Terrible normal villains and almost no super-villains
3. Steve Trevor isn’t hot are desirable in any way (why is he in that comic, clearly she’s a lesbian people! I mean come on Amazon princess.)

2. No sidekicks or cool butler friends to speak of

1. She’s just a girl version of Superman (and Superman really sucks, seriously Batman could totally kick his ass any day of the week. It’s why he never joined the Justice League. 😉 )

I’d like to add one to the list actually. She has no real secret identity. One of the main good things about superheroes is that they have to hide their secret lives from their loved ones so that

A. They don’t think they’re a freak and leave them 😉 and
B. So no super-villian decides to kidnap them and hold them for randsom or kill them.

Plus isn’t the whole part of a super heroes secret identity supposed to make them relateable and nobody wants to relate to a blue granny panty wearing Amazon that wears hooker boots! Does she ever wear normal clothes?

What do Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America all have in common?

July 23, 2008 at 6:43 pm (Movie, Random, Superheroes) (, , , , , , , , , )

So I was thinking about that Watchmen movie coming out and I was like when’s Marvel gonna have their next movie? Aha look what I found! It appears that an Iron Man 2 is already in the making (what a creative title lol). It’s supposed to be coming out on April 30, 2010. So it’s still awhile off but I’m definitely looking forward to it.

Thor is supposed to be coming out slightly later in the year. According to Wikipedia Stan Lee made Thor shortly after creating the Hulk in the hopes of making a stronger super hero seeing as how he was a god instead of a human. I think it’s cooler when super heroes actually have skills versus brute strength though:).

Captain America is coming out in 2011. Now by adding the Hulk, let’s think, what do all 4 of these super heroes have in common? They’re all members of the Avengers. I’m positive that will be Marvel’s response to the Watchmen. This also makes a lot of sense seeing as how the list of new Avengers includes Spiderman and Wolverine. I mean Wolverine is getting his own movie with a date set for May 1, 2009. It’s going to be a very big build-up before Avengers which I’m betting will make it more popular than the Dark Knight. But that’s just me.

Anyways I’d just like to thank you guys for making today have more than 100 views! 😀
