Tim Burton’s sneaky movie

December 27, 2008 at 10:26 pm (Random) (, , , , , , , , )

So I went on Winter vacation and vacationed from posting new stuff because I’m a bad blogger lol. But, I did find a fun new thing to post about while still on vacation so here it is. While I thought Tim Burton was too busy making Alice in Wonderland, he’s been making a movie called 9 as well as being directed by Wanted’s Timur Bekmambetov. It’s based off of a short made by Shane Acker and it’s coming out on the very appropriate date of 09-09-09. It’s got these crazy little scarecrow guys and the main character’s name is 9, who’s voiced by Elijah Wood. You see a scarecrow labeled 10 in the trailer so there’s at least that many of them (unless imdb’s scarce information that only shows numbers 7, 5, 9, 6, 1, & 2 is correct. There should be more about it considering it’s less than a year away. I’m still surprised that I haven’t heard anything about this movie until now.) that were created by some unknown person. Anyway, 9 is supposed to save the destroyed world. The trailer shows some sweet animation and I’m sure it’ll be entertaining since Tim Burton is usually good with creepy little critters. I hunted down the short so you could watch it as well. There’s this cool machine-skellie dinosaur cat thing if nothing else. Enjoy πŸ˜€ .

Here’s the short.

Here’s the trailer for the movie.

The new Sorcerer’s Apprentice is not Mickey Mouse

December 4, 2008 at 7:01 pm (Movie, Random) (, , , , , , , , )

fantasia-demonJay Baruchel is (you know the young guy who starred in Tropic Thunder). Jay and Nicholas Cage are starring in the new live-action Disney movie called “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” coming out sometime in 2009 (which has nothing to do with Fantasia, like at all. Now that I think about it, a live-action Fantasy movie could be really fun though, as long as it had some CG for the Centaurs and Pegasuses and stuff πŸ˜€ ). Nicholas Cage is the new Sorcerer, who for some reason lives in New York and is looking for his latest apprentice (duh). I find it strange to think of Nicholas Cage as a super cool sorcerer guy like the one in Fantasia and I’m wondering if they’re going to make him look old or keep him like he is. He doesn’t look very sorcery at all and he’s the last guy I’d pick to be one. I also think it’s kind of weird to team Nicholas up with Jay Baruchel seeing as they’re both pretty goofy. I don’t think I could take either of them seriously especially if they had magical powers. This movie just seems like a screwed up version of Enchanted and I liked Enchanted too 😦 . At least that movie made some sense seeing as how all the magical things started in fantasy land. There’s not too many details of this movie currently available other than what I’ve already said, especially considering it’s supposed to come out sometime in 2009. I think it was just announced that Jay Baruchel is the co-star too, so I’m guessing it won’t actually be out until at least 2010.

I’m so proud of you David Yates

November 17, 2008 at 5:20 pm (Movie, Random) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

So here’s yet another Harry Potter trailer and it looks like the Half-Blood Prince movie may actually follow the plot of the book. Maybe David Yates has run out of creative thinking or maybe he just realized that the reason people like the books is because the story is good and he shouldn’t keep messing with it πŸ˜› . Anyway the trailer looks very promising and it shows a lot of Harry and Dumbledore on their excursions (which I would hope it would considering that’s what mainly happened in the book, even though in the 3rd movie the Firebolt didn’t even show up until the end and there was no winning the Quidditch Cup). Just their apparition alone is very cool looking. The trailer also gives a better introduction to Horace Slughorn for those people that are too lazy to read the books still. It also looks like the part where Ron eats the cupcakes filled with love potion will be hilarious. Harry-“Alright fine you’re in love with her, have you ever actually met her?,” Ron-“No…..could you introduce me?” Who wouldn’t laugh at Ron being all crazy pants for some random girl that he doesn’t even know? It also looks like they’re actually going to have Ron get poisoned from drinking Slughorn’s wine too. It’s so impressive that Yates managed to use a whole scene from the book without changing it lol.

Anyways, I’m also really excited about getting to see the memories of Dumbledore meeting Riddle and the ministry man meeting Marvolo Gaunt (at least I hope this memory is in the movie). We also get to see some Quidditch action again and it looks like we’ll actually get to see Ron doing a good job as the Keeper. Another interesting thing in the trailer are Luna’s fun Specter Specs. They’re really fun and glowy. We also see Hermione wearing something strange in the movie and she looks like she’s about to cry so I’m not sure if that’s Ron-Lavender drama or what’s going on there. There’s also sudo Harry and Ginny smooching in this trailer which I’m sure will make all the fan girls either happy or extremely jealous (even though it’s of a fictional character *sigh*). The last things we see are Harry yelling at Snape (the Half-Blood Prince himself) and telling him to “fight back you coward” as well as a bridge being ripped to pieces (which I’m guessing is the one that Muggle Engineers would freaking out about in the book). This trailer looks like the movie is definitely going to be amazing. I’ll just say it again, I’m proud of David Yates for leaving good things alone!

Robots in Disguise

November 5, 2008 at 5:38 pm (Movie, Random) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

There’s a rumor going around that Isabel Lucas (who’s playing a girl named Alice in the next Transformers movie) is going to be a Pretender.Β  As much as that might seem initially cool, it’ll just turn Transformers into another Terminator movie (we don’t need any more Terminator stuff seeing as how there’s a new movie coming out in 2009 and the Sarah Connor Chronicles is already on Fox.)Β  That and the fact that Isabel is supposed to have “an arm that transforms into an energy weapon, a long tongue, and a scanning tenticle”-TFW2005 means that something slutty between her and Megan Fox is probably going to happen *shudder*.
pretender
I also think it’s so stupid to have the Transformers be so big and then have Pretenders, which are obviously as small an anorexic girl πŸ˜› . The only reason I could possibly think of for having a Transformer that small would be to make them a spy. I’d still think that a Pretender would be incredibly weak against the normal Transformers though. It’s doubtful that the whole spy factor would be worth the risk of getting totally owned by the other Transformers. There would definitely have to be multiple Pretenders to make them even the slightest bit useful. Another thing, wouldn’t Sam and Mikaela notice that Alice doesn’t eat food or that she had a huge tongue? I mean I understand that they’re not that bright, but still. Those kinds of things are pretty hard to miss.

Hopefully this rumor isn’t true. Hopefully this picture is just some of the footage from the new Terminator movie. That would make the most sense. Either that or Michael Bay is being really dumb.

Being the Chosen one gets you chicks apparently

October 27, 2008 at 5:06 pm (Movie, Random) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

There’s a new international trailer out for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It is short by it’s still pretty cool. Make sure you watch this trailer quickly before WB yanks it off of youtube again (and also before you read this as it contains spoilers). You get to see Dumbledore and Harry entering the cave where the locket is, and you get to see more of Dumbledore facing off against the Inferi. The original trailer is embedded in this one in the middle, which shows you just how crappy and short it really was. Harry also is running through a field towards a house that’s on fire, which I’m pretty sure is the Gaunt shack, but who knows. Ron gets kissed by a pretty busty Lavender Brown, which I’m sure will make all of the fan girls uber jealous. We get to see more memory tubes as well as Slughorn sucking the memory out of his head in order to give it to Harry (I’m excited to see how the lucky potion scene will turn out in the movie). Dumbledore reveals that Harry is “The Chosen One” which I’m sure is going to excite all the lame people that haven’t actually finished the books. The best part of the trailer is at the end though. Some random girl is oggling Harry and he oggles back until Hermoine yells at him saying that “she’s only interested in you because you’re the chosen one” and he says “But I am the chosen one” and she smacks him with a rolled up paper. It’s pretty great and makes the really fast cut scenes in the rest of the trailer worth it. Oh and btw SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE lol.

Wait, Sherlock Holmes might not be incredibly boring?!?

October 14, 2008 at 1:59 pm (Movie, Random) (, , , , , , , , )

The new Sherlock Holmes movie stars Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock (duh) and Jude Law as Dr. Watson. Jude Law has been in a Sherlock Holmes tv show before but it seems like he was a pretty obscure character. I think it’s pretty cool that they actually gave the part of Sherlock to someone with a sense of humor since usually Sherlock Holmes is so boring. Hopefully this movie is pretty entertaining since Robert Downey usually is in his movies. I don’t really know much about Jude Law though so I can’t say much there. This movie looks mildy interesting but I won’t be jumping to see it in theaters. I’ll probably see it off of Netflix though. Anyway, everyone is saying how hot both of them are in their outfits but I think Robert Downey Jr. is kinda goofy looking, especially in his hat. Also Jude Law looks creepy with a mustache (like I’ll kill you in your sleep creepy *shudder*). Anyway, the movie is supposed to come out sometime in 2009 but there’s no month listed at imdb πŸ˜› .

In other news there’s a sad orange kitty in our yard that is probably dying. We think it got hit by a car since its face is all cut up and we are probably going to take it to the Humane Society since there’s not much we can do for it 😦 . I don’t know where he came from but he seems like a really nice cat to have to die 😦 .

Tim Burton <3 Johnny Depp for sure

October 9, 2008 at 1:10 pm (Movie, Pirates, Random, TV) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

So there are some big rumors flying around about the 4th Pirates of the Caribbean movie which might have it’s own trilogy. I hope they don’t push for the trilogy personally because that will probably lead to forcing out another 3 Pirates movies without trying to make them good. But this might not be the case if one of the rumors is true. Supposedly Gore Verbinski (the guy who directed the first 3 Pirates movies if you didn’t know) is returning to direct this movie but there’s whisperings about Tim Burton maybe taking over as director. If this is true, then Burton and Depp are going to be spending a lot of time together since Johnny Depp is playing the Mad Hatter (like I mentioned here) in Burton’s Alice in Wonderland movie. Seriously I always knew they had a thing for each other lol πŸ˜‰ .

Anyway, Burton would probably do a good job with the Pirates movies especially since they’re supposed to be focusing on the past (at least that’s what I’ve heard) when Captain Jack and Barbossa were looking for the Fountain of Youth. I think it’s very plausible that this is what the 4th movie is going to be about because another one of the rumors is that Geoffrey Rush has signed on for the 4th movie as well. I do think it would be a better idea for Orlando and Keira to return in this movie seeing as how Will Turner is now immortal and Elizabeth isn’t. They could even make it a few years after the end of the last movie so Will’s son could be older and go looking for Jack’s help or something. But currently I’ve heard no rumors talking about Keira or Orlando returning so that probably isn’t going to happen.

Captain Jack’s brother (when did he ever mention having a brother and where was he in the last movie when all the pirates faced off?) is also rumored to show up in this movie. From what I’ve heard, it’s either going to be Sacha Baron Cohen or Russell Brand (you know that crazy guy with the biggest white guy fro I’ve ever seen that scared people at the MTV award show lol). Sacha’s played in a movie with Johnny Depp before (he was Pirelli in Sweeney Todd which I still need to see!) but I haven’t really seen anything of either comedian’s work. I do think it would be good to have someone with a sense of humor playing Jack’s brother though πŸ˜€ . That’s all for the current rumors though.

Don’t miss The Office episode called “Business Ethics” tonight at 9 on NBC and don’t click here unless you want to read a summary of the plot. Also check out this very cool Nightmare Before Christmas theme for Firefox that I just downloaded today. It’s a very cool theme for Halloween.

Fun Iron Man Goodies

September 29, 2008 at 5:07 pm (Movie, Random, Superheroes) (, , , , , , , , )

The Iron Man DVD is coming out tomorrow and it has some pretty cool (well kinda cool at least) making-of clips included. The first clip shows some of the first concept art for the Iron Man suit. It’s pretty cool that they actually thought about whether or not a person could bend and move inside without breaking their arms and legs (even though nobody ever gets to wear the real suit πŸ˜› ). The 2nd movie is kinda cheesey and just talks about how awesome it would be to have a suit that would let us fly. The 3rd one is pretty funny since it’s the makeup artists making the Iron Man suit on Robert Downey Jr. They have to shave him and then paint him with what I can only assume is latex. Then they peel it off; which has to feel like a giant bandaid being ripped off slowly lol. Anyway you can watch the clips here but I’d advise you to skip the 2nd one since it is pretty boring.

As far as the rest of the DVD goes, I’ll start by saying that I really like the inside cover picture a lot more than the cover pictures. There’s also going to be 3 different versions of the DVD that you can buy straight away. There’s the Two-Disc Special Collector’s Edition, a Special Collector’s Edition Blu-ray Disc and a Single-Disc Edition. I thought there was a typo when I originally saw the prices of the DVDs but I guess not. Amazon has the Single Disc listed at $34.99 but it’s on sale for $14.99. What the heck were they thinking by pricing this DVD so high? $20 is pretty expensive for a single disc let alone $35. Also the original price of either of the Two-Disc sets is $39.99 with the Blu-ray on sale for $25.95 and the normal on sale for $22.99. I’m definitely not buying this DVD right away and I can’t believe how many pre-orders there probably already are for it. If I knew anyone paid $40 for a DVD (especially when you can pirate anything now) I’d have to kick them in the shins and laugh at their stupidity.

Disney is so “creative” sometimes

September 18, 2008 at 12:24 pm (Movie, Pirates, Random) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Disney is making an adventure movie set in space. Everyone is thinking it’s going to be a Tomorrowland/Space Mountain movie or a rip-off of Star Wars. Oh yeah and it’s starring The Rock. Now, Disney is of course denying any rumors that it’s based off of Space Mountain or any part of their park. But come on, what else could it be? They’ve already ripped off of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride (which was good because they actually got talented actors) and the Haunted Mansion ride (which was one of the stupidest movies I’ve seen). I’ve also heard rumors that Meet the Robinsons was supposed to be their version of Tomorrowland and that it was a good movie (seeing as how I still haven’t seen it I wouldn’t know….sad really). So maybe it will be “creative” but I’ll only say that if turns out to be good.

Personally I hope they don’t try and rip-off a whole section of their park into a movie because then when little kids run to Disney to see Tomorrowland, they’re going to be really confused. Both Pirates and the Haunted Mansion weren’t really like their ride counterparts and I’m sure some obnoxious little kids kept waiting for Jack Sparrow to pop up even though he never would. Personally, I was happy when I rode both the Haunted Mansion and Pirates rides and found out that neither of them had changed even after the movies were released. I was shocked that Disney didn’t try to mutate the original rides into something new (and if they try to do that to Space Mountain somebody is getting hurt). Disney had better realize that Pirates was only good because of the story, script, and actors they chose to play the parts (not just because people were nastalgic because that obviously didn’t help them with the horrendous Haunted Mansion movie). So hopefully they are telling the truth and they don’t just try to make some sappy space movie based off of their park with The Rock as some little kid’s “funny” dad that ends up saving the day. After all, they did make Wall-E really good with hardly any speaking roles, so they could do it again right?

P.S. after posting this picture, I’m having withdrawals from the ride 😦 .

Matthew McConaughey would rather Hulk-out

September 17, 2008 at 10:55 am (Movie, Random, Superheroes) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Best Friends Forever!

Best Friends Forever!

It seems like every day I’m finding out about another superhero movie in the making and who is rumored to be playing the lead role. Apparently Matthew McConaughey had no idea that he was rumored to be playing Captain America (supposedly Leonardo DiCaprio was rumored for this spot too πŸ˜› but as far as I know Marvel has only denied Will Smith). Well, neither did I until just now haha. I don’t think Captain America is in love with himself enough to be played by McConaughey personally. In love with America, yes; but not with himself. I also think Captain America with a southern accent would be silly. I guess it would make sense for him to be from the south since he’s insanely patriotic though.

MTV decided to question McConaughey about the rumors as if that would help to clarify matters for the rest of us. You can read how seemingly “clueless” they thought Matthew was when they asked him about it here (lol I never thought someone would be surprised by McConaughey being clueless about anything). Anyway, when MTV asked what he thought about playing Captain A. (lol) he said that he thought that was a “super cool nameβ€” Captain America.”-comicbookmovie.com. He also said that he wasn’t that big of a comic book fan as a kid (shocker!) and that he’d rather play the Hulk (Please we do not need a 3rd Hulk especially not a McConaughey version). Lol could you imagine if McConaughey did sign on and him and Hugh Jackman had to team up seeing as Captain America and Wolverine used to be best buds? I would have to laugh through the whole movie (especially if they were in love with each other as much as they were in the old cartoons πŸ˜€ ).

In other news, my power supply was almost returned to me last night. I literally missed it by less than 5 minutes. I saw the UPS truck driving away on the main road leading from my house. Then I showed up home to see that little brown sticker denying me my power supply without a signature 😦 . Boo I say! Anyway, I should hopefully have my desktop fixed by tonight and maybe I’ll post my happiness if it’s working properly. (Hope you enjoy the pic Matt πŸ˜€ .)
